Electromechanical Engineering Technician – Robotics?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Is this good thing to get into? (college), Can any one give me info about this program? is it hands on?

Thanks

absolutely. many people in the field feel like robotics today are where computers were in the early 80s. That is to say that currently they are big and expensive, but over the next few years will come down in price to the point that in 10~20 years every house will have one. If you got into it now, you would be like one of the first computer gurus when businesses were desperate for trained people to operate them.

Google ‘heartland robotics’ to read the news articles about one such development.

Is electronic technician work generally looked at as Electronic engineering related experience?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I would say so. There is a much finer line between an EE and a tech than there is between an ME and a mechanic.

If you are asking in terms of coop, that is exactly what I did. I worked as an electronic technician, troubleshooting motor controllers for a power transmission distributor, and received credit hours. I was also paid an hourly wage!

What is the pay range for a Biomedical Engineering Technician?

What is it that you exactly do in this field?? Is it worth going into this field?

Check Salary.com for pay.

Check bls.gov (Dept of Labor) for for job descriptions and future outlook. I believe they break it down by state.

Transatlantic Tunnel-
So, if you could take the train from New York and in less than an hour reach London, would you do it? What if you had to make the journey through a tunnel 150 feet under the Atlantic? And on a magnetically levitated train traveling at 5,000 mph?
